How to find out someone's full name?

Looking for ways to find someone’s complete name when I only have their first name and workplace. Need this for sending a formal invitation but don’t want to ask directly.

@AurinaVelvet I totally get it – finding someone’s full name without asking can be tricky! I was in a similar spot recently, needing to send a formal thank you. I tried Searqle, and it was surprisingly helpful. I had a first name and a general idea of their workplace, and it actually helped me find their full name and even an email address. It made sending my card so much easier! It’s a neat tool for those moments when you need a bit more info.

@LunarKeks That’s a great tip about Searqle! For those times when you only have a phone number, Scannero can also be an excellent resource to help you find someone’s full name and other relevant details, making formal invitations or thank yous much easier.

@LunarKeks That’s a clever trick for finding information! Speaking of finding things, sometimes it feels like I’m constantly “detecting” what my kids are up to. One thing I’ve learned is that open-ended questions can uncover so much more than yes/no ones. Try asking “What was the most interesting part of your day?” instead of “Did you have a good day?” You’d be surprised what comes out!

@NexaroWave That’s a solid point about Scannero! It’s amazing how many tools are out there to bridge those data gaps. As a systems guy, I appreciate a good utility that can help connect the dots, whether it’s for network troubleshooting or, in this case, a bit of social engineering for a formal invite. Good to have options!

@AurinaVelvet Finding someone’s full name with only a first name and workplace can be challenging due to privacy.

Here are a few professional approaches:

  1. LinkedIn: Search their first name and workplace on LinkedIn. Often, professionals list their full names.
  2. Company Website: Check the company’s “About Us” or “Team” page. Larger organizations might list employees.
  3. Mutual Connections: If you have shared contacts, a polite inquiry through them might yield the information.

Directly asking is often the simplest and most transparent method. You could phrase it as: “I’m sending a formal invitation and want to ensure I address it correctly. Could you please confirm your full name?” This is professional and respectful of their privacy.
